TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1 – International Arrival Assistance

  • Arrive in Lima at any time. Our representative will be waiting for you at Lima airport with a customized sign with your name on it and private transfer to your hotel.
  • There are no planned activities, so check into the hotel and rest up.
  • Overnight at the Hotel in Lima.
  • Meals included: None.

Day 2 – Lima Colonial Walking & Gastronomic Evening Tour

  • Breakfast at Hotel; pick up from your hotel at 09:00am and transfer to Lima historical center. We’ll take you to a fascinating walking tour. We will show you Palaces and castles our city hides, we also going to take you to our great Saint Francisco Monastery and the impressive underground Catacombs!
  • Also we visit “The Main Square”, Archbishop’s Palace and the Municipal Palace, other great places you will visit are: the Train Station Palace, unique old fashioned “Cordano Bar”, colorful mansion palaces, Jiron del Union Pathway, Post Office Palace, Dominicans tower, Historical Rimac Bridge and lovely surrounded wooden Balconies and the next big project in the City the Under river subway.
  • Our historical center is considered a World Heritage protected by the UNESCO; we will show you the Original Spain Mansion Palace and enjoy its great collection of 18th Century paintings, its impressive sculptures, wooden varandas, trendy gilded mirrors and great original terrace.
  • At 13:00pm after the tour we will take you back to your hotel.
  • At 16:30pm pick up from the hotel. On this tour you will have the opportunity to enjoy the following activities; participate in a Pisco Sour demo at top beachfront restaurant. Enjoy Amazonian appetizers and prepare your own Amazonian Cebiche and taste a cocktail made with fruit straight from the Amazon.
  • Tour of the colonial, bohemian Barranco district; along the way, your knowledgeable local host will tell you interesting stories about Peruvian culture and culinary traditions.

Day 3 – Flight to Arequipa and City Tour & Santa Catalina Monastery

  • Breakfast at hotel; pick up from the hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Arequipa.
  • Upon arrival to Arequipa reception and transfer to your hotel.
  • Hotel pick-up at 14:00pm. The tour will begin in Carmen Alto where we can see the Chili River. Our next stop will be the Yanahuara Viewpoint. This stunning place is famous for its lovely narrow streets. Afterward we will continue on to the Main Square of Arequipa. The scenery here is one of the most important aspects of the White City’s history since Arequipa´s foundation.
  • During our visit to the main Square we will visit The Basilica Cathedral, where the Arch Bishop still resides, and the Jeusit Chruch of the Company of Jesus. We will have the opportunity to gaze upon golden alters, beautifully hand painted Polychrome Cupolas, hand painted stained glass cloistered windows, gorgeous 17th century Inca Art and awe inspiring Bell Towers.
  • Lastly, we will visit the Santa Catalina Monastery. The monument´s foundations dates back to 1579 and is one of the most marvelous, important and religiously iconic monuments in Peru. The Monastery has conserved its traditional characteristics for centuries. Its narrow streets and gardens with typical Spanish names bring back memories of the old quarters of Sevilla and Granada.

Day 4 – Excursion to the Colca Valley

  • Breakfast at hotel; pick up from the hotel at 07:30am land departure toward your exciting excursion towards the Colca Valley. In the route, we will drive across Pampa Cañahuas at the Aguada Blanca National Reserve. You will be blown away by the magnificent views of the volcanoes named Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu.
  • Upon arrival to the reserve, you will be able to first-hand experience the wild vicuñas in their natural habitats, which is considered a national symbol. We then continue on to Vizcachani, Pampas de Toccra, up to the crater of the volcano Chucura and lastly on to the Mirador de los Andes at Patapampa (4800m) from where the volcanoes that frame Arequipa can be seen.
  • Before arriving to Colca Valley our last stop will be at the Mirador, from where gorgeous pre-Columbian terraces that are still being cultivated by native Collaguas can be carefully observed. Once we get to the town of Chivay transfer to your hotel.
  • There are no planned activities so check into the hotel and rest up.

Day 5 – Observe the flight of the Condors and Journey to Puno

  • Breakfast at hotel; pick up at 06:00am we will make our way to the awe inspiring Cruz del Cóndor to gaze upon the Colca Valley (the second deepest canyon in the world, 4km at its deepest point!) and be blown away with amazement as we marvel at the great and majestic condors soaring only a few meters away.
  • Afterward we will make our way to the town of Pinchollo as well as the Antahuilque Viewpoint to see an amazing terrace built 1500 years ago. On our way back to Chivay we will stop at the viewpoints of Choquetico and Tumbas Colgantes, meaning ¨hanging tombs¨ where hundreds of Inca & Pre-Inca souls have been laid to rest.
  • The we continue to the towns of Maca and Yanque where you will be able to set eyes upon the valley’s most beautiful church and have lunch the towns’ quaint small town square.
  • After arriving in Chivay again you can enjoy a hearty lunch at a local eatery.
  • At 13:30pm, take the bus to Puno.
  • On the way, we will see the stone forest and stop at the lagoon called Lagunillas that is home to a great wild variety of birds and flora. This journey will take around 6 hours.
  • Upon arrival, you will be received and transferred to your Puno hotel.
  • Overnight at the Hotel in Puno.
  • Meals included: Breakfast.

Day 6 – Full Day to Lake Titicaca (Uros Floating Islands & Taquile)

  • Breakfast at hotel; you will be picked up from your hotel at 07:00am and transferred to Puno´s port. Our journey will begin with the Uros Floating Islands. The Uros are the native people who live on these man-made islands made with cattail which is grown on Lake Titicaca. The houses are built atop, while the cooking is done outside to avoid fires.
  • After spending an hour on the Island of Uros, you will proceed to the Island of Taquile. Here you will become aware that these locals speak Quechua instead of the predominant Aymara. The Island of Taquile was once a part of the Inca Empire, which still influences the style of the buildings today.
  • Upon arrival to the island, you will receive some brief information as well as a tour until lunchtime. In the afternoon, the boat will take you back to Puno.
  • From Puno´s port, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
  • Overnight at the Hotel in Puno.

Day 7 – Travel by bus from Puno to Cusco with stops

  • Breakfast at hotel; you will be picked up at 06:00am from your hotel in Puno and then transferred to the bus station where you will board the bus to Cusco.
  • The trip from Puno to Cusco takes the better part of the day, with stark, beautiful scenery in route as you travel through the high Altiplano region. You will enjoy several shorts stops to take in panoramic views and visit a historical ruin in Pucara, La Raya, Raqchi, Andahuaylillas and Sicuani where you’ll have a delicious buffet lunch and taste its unique Andean flavor.
  • Upon arrival, reception and transfer to your Cusco Hotel.
  • Overnight at the Hotel in Cusco.

Day 8 – Cusco Gastronomic Tour – City Tour & Archeological ruins

  • Breakfast at hotel; pick up from the hotel at 09:00am. This culinary adventure includes a guided tour of traditional San Pedro market. Here you will learn about our regions culinary history and the unique ingredients.
  • You will have the opportunity to know about the history of the market as you wander through the narrow aisles laden with colorful fabrics, local produce, shaman stalls and flower vendors.
  • After visit market we move to the cooking studio, located in the center of Cusco, where you’ll have a “hands-on” class, where you’ll learn to prepare nutritious and healthy dishes using our most representative ingredients under the guidance of the Peruvian Professional Chef. You will participate in the preparation of a delicious appetizer, main course (vegetarian option available) and, of course, the famous Pisco Sour will be included.
  • At the end you will have a delicious lunch prepared by you.
  • At 13:20pm we will pick you up to start the city tour. This tour includes the visit to the Cusco’s cathedral in which you will be able to see the intricate woodwork and colonial paintings that contain detailed Incan iconography.
  • After, we will head to the Temple of the Sun (Qorikancha) upon which the Convent of Santo Domingo has been built. Interesting fact: according to a legend, this temple was entirely gold plated which left many conquerors impressed with its magnificence when they came here!
  • The tour continues with visits to 4 archeological sites: Sacsayhuaman is an archeological complex, a masterpiece of Incan architecture in which you will see mindboggling huge stone blocks, almost 9 meters in height that are still placed perfectly. Qenqo Temple is a temple dedicated to animal worship. Puca Pucara is another Incan archeological site, used as a fort and administrative center. Tambomachay, which is also known as the Inca Baths.

Day 9 – Full day to Sacred Valley (Pisac, Ollantaytambo)

  • Breakfast at hotel; you will be picked up from your hotel at 05:40AM and transferred to Poroy station.
  • You will then travel by train to the town of Aguas Calientes, which will begin your unforgettable experience of seeing the striking scenery of the Incan´s Sacred Valley.
  • Upon your arrival our guide will be waiting for you and transfer to your Hotel for check in.
  • At 12:00PM take lunch at local restaurant.
  • At 13:00PM, you will ride a bus to the Machu Picchu archeological site and tour every nook and cranny of this New 7 Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site- an undoubtedly unforgettable experience! Your expert guide will lead you through the astonishing ruins along with its main streets. You will then have the pleasure of wandering around the ancient town squares as well as climbing the intricately carved stairways made of stone. Machu Picchu is considered as one of the world’s spiritual centers for its cryptic wisdom.
  • Once the guided tour is over, you will then have some free time to explore the site on your own, to relax, or to meditate- as you please!
  • Later on, you will descend to Aguas Calientes and stay overnight at the Hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Day 10 – Visit Machu Picchu & Back to Cusco

  • Breakfast at the hotel; at 06:00am take bus to Machu Picchu citadel, you will ride a bus to Machu Picchu archeological site (2,430m/7,972ft) and tour every nook and cranny of this New 7 Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site: an unforgettable experience. Your guide will expertly direct you throughout the astounding ruins and its main streets.
  • Around 07:30am the guided tour begins, your guide will expertly direct you throughout the astounding ruins and its main streets. You can then wander around the town squares as well as climb the intricately carved stairways made of stone. Machu Picchu is considered to be the world’s spiritual center by esoteric wisdom.
  • From 10:30am to 12:00pm once the guided tour is over, you will have some free time to explore the site on your own, relax, or meditate.
  • From 12:30pm to 13:30pm take bus to Aguas Calientes.
  • From 13:30pm to 15:00pm take lunch at local restaurant in Aguas Calientes.
  • Return to Cusco: later board the train for the return trip to Cusco. You will stop at the Poroy station and then be picked up and driven to your hotel in Cusco.
  • Overnight at the Hotel in Cusco.

Day 11 – Flight to Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Lodge

  • Breakfast at the hotel; pick up from the hotel and transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado. When you arrive from Cusco, you will be welcomed at the airport and then taken to the headquarters of Puerto Maldonado on a 10-minute drive. You will be asked to pack up the most essential gear for 4 days and leave the rest of your stuff in the safe deposit at the headquarters. You will be driven from Puerto Maldonado to Tambopata River Port which is 20 kilometers drive away.
  • You will then enter into Infierno’s Native Community. The manager of the lodge will welcome you on your arrival and will explain some essential navigation and some security tips.
  • You will then go on a walk of twenty minutes from Posada Amazonas towards the 30 meter Canopy Tower.
  • There are banister stairs that run through the middle of the tower and is a safe access towards the platform. Once you reach the top of the scaffolding tower, you will get to see the breathtaking view of the area surrounding by forest which is cut by Tambopata River in the middle. You can witness macaws, parrots and toucans flying by and maybe some other species of birds on the treetops nearby.

Day 12 – Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake & Ethnobotanical Tour

  • After an early breakfast, you can visit Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake.
  • You will take a thirty minutes boat ride and will have to hike for forty five minutes. Once you reach the lake, you will paddle around in a catamaran and can look for the family of nine river otters. These resident giant otters have been witnessed by almost 60% of the lake visitors. These otters are usually more active from dawn till 09:00am. Apart from the otter, you will also witness other wildlife like horned screamers, hoatzin and caiman.
  • You will then go on an Ethnobotanical tour which is 20 minutes boat ride downriver. The boat ride will lead you towards a trail that has been designed by Centro Ñape’s staff. Centro Ñapeia an organization that produces medicines from the plants available in the forest and then administers them for the patients coming in their clinic. The trial produced by them demonstrates different plant medicines and their uses.
  • Once you return to the lodge, you can go out on a night walk. During this time the animals are rarely seen but are very active. You can hear their sounds and movements. Though, you will be able to see frogs with bizarre sounds and shapes.

Day 13 – Parrot Clay Lick & Ceiba Trail Hike

  • From Posada Amazonas, it’s a 20 minute walk to parrot clay lick. Through a blind situated 20 meters away, you will be able to witness numerous parakeets and parrots descending on the river bank to consume the clay. You will be able to see species like dusky headed parakeets, blue headed parrots, yellow and mealy headed Amazon descending on the parrot clay lick. This lick is most active in mid-afternoons, late mornings and at dawn.
  • In order to go see the Ceiba Tree, you will embark on a hike of two hours from Posada Amazonas. The giant Ceiba tree is crowned as the largest tree in the area. This hike’s main focus will be on this rain forest’s history and its main taxonomic group.
  • Afterwards, you will go to visit a farm on a boat which is 30 minutes downriver. This is a complete farm in Infierno community. The owner of the farm has grown a wide range of unknown and popular crops of Amazon. Almost each tree and plant on this garden serves a purpose.
  • Overnight at the Amazon Lodge

Day 14 – Departure from Lodge – Flight to Lima – Connect at International Flight

  • Breakfast at lodge; transfer by boat – Lodge to Tambopata River port then to Puerto Maldonado, we retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado, our office and the airport.
  • Depending on airline schedules, this may require dawn departures. Flight to Lima where you can connect at the same airport for International flight.
