Huchuy Qosqo Trek
Our Huchuy Qosqo trekking adventure is a homestay and living tourism opportunity like no other. Trekking Huchuy Qosqo is ideal for you if you don’t have the time to sink your teeth into a longer, more extensive journey. This quick and challenging trek will introduce you to all of the richness of the Cusco region without the big commitment that other treks require. A Huchuy Qosqo trekking excursion is a perfect addition to a traditional sightseeing tour. You will be treated to amazing views of the Sacred Valley during this journey.
Our Huchuy Qosqo trek was designed for those who wish to venture off the beaten path in search of stunning Andean villages, awe-inspiring peaks and mesmerizing ruins. It is recommended that you stay a few days in Cusco to adjust to the change in altitude before you begin this trek. Acclimating yourself to the local altitude will ensure that you can get the most satisfaction out of the beautiful mountain landscape. Once the trek begins, you will travel through small hamlets in pursuit of rare views of Pisaq and the Sacred Valley. You will even have the rare opportunity to enjoy a picnic lunch in a canyon. A stop in the village of Huchuy Qosqo is one of the highlights of this trek. You will then spend the night with a local family and experience life in an authentic Andean village. This stop provides a great opportunity to relax as you drink cups of muña tea and converse with locals about regional culinary traditions. Your day in the village will conclude with a hearty dinner made with local ingredients. Your next stop will be in the village of Taucca. This beautiful spot is populated by just 20 families. The villagers here will share with you their traditional Andean way of life. You will have opportunities to partake in weaving and plowing using Andean tools before enjoying a traditional lunch made with local ingredients. Once you get back on the trail, the route will eventually place you on the main portion of the Inca Trail from Cusco to Machu Picchu.
The Huchuy Qosqo trek is a short and sweet option that is ideal for anyone with limited time. This trek gives you the option to experience all the adventure of a proper trek in a fraction of the time. A variation of our Huchuy Qosqo trek is also available in one or two day versions that do not include visits to Machu Picchu.
