The guide was with dress professional, for instance skip the sex t-shirt; the food was variety was excellent quality was more than we usually eat, snacks were good too, simpler desserts such as cookies or candy, fruit. I have just returned to England following a two week fully comprehensive holiday, Discovery - the best of Southern Peru, organized by Sungate Tours. I saw a recommendation for this company on Trip Adviser and was not disappointed. I had emailed several other companies with little useful response but the information I received almost immediately from Sungate was detailed and encouraging. They were based in Peru and obviously knew the country inside out. This gave me the confidence to let them create a package for me which included all my transfers, long distance luxury coaches and one internal flight, hotels, tours, guides and some meals. I was not to be disappointed. From the moment I was met when I arrived in Lima to the day I was dropped off back at the airport two weeks later, I was constantly in touch with Sungate's local guides, who helped chaperone me and allowed me to have a fantastic, stress free, well organized trip seeing some wonderful sights, staying at well chosen, comfortable hotels, with no problems whatsoever. For once it truly was a holiday for me, with none of the hassles about where to stay next and what to do next. I really loved Peru, from the incredible Aztec sites to the intriguing wildlife. The highlight of the trip for me was staying with a local family on Amantani Island on Lake Titicaca, a truly humbling and unforgettable experience. The other guests on the various tours were like minded travellers, so a sense of comerardery soon developed, and I soon made some extra friends from around the world who I am still in contact with. For comfortable, interesting, well organized, safe and financially viable independent travelling around Peru, I strongly recommend Sungate Tours. Their ability to organize everything left me to enjoy and absorb the unique culture and welcoming people of this wonderful country! As a professional naturalist photographer, travelling in a tourist group would be for me a pure waste of time. Only a small travel agency like Sungate Tours is able to organize in professional, reliable manner an individual, private tour to special biotopes for photography. After 2007, I enjoyed again in October, 2009 the excellent service of Sungate, on the one hand, down to Manu National Park, passing the cloud forest at San Pedro, on the other hand, to Ausangate (4 days trekking). Rio Manu; the boat trip of about two weeks with the same tried staff (Ryse, forest guide, Mauro, first-class cook, and Arico, boat driver) was once more very successful, without regard to the weather. I was completely free in deciding how long to stay at the preferred places… Ausangate; with no less than three horses I visited on a 4 days trekking the Ausangate surroundings (what a mountain!). Again, we had a lot of fun together (on this trip: Juan Carlos as my mountain guide, and the cook Mauro, as well as the horseman and the porter. Juan Carlos sacrificed coca leaves to appease the weather god, with some success! When we arrived at Tinqui, the Sungate car for Cusco was already waiting for us.

Edison was an excellent guide very knowledgeable good communication skill. The food was a good mix of food- soups, salads, fish, meat, fruit too much food for us but this is not really a complaint! Porters, cook and guide worked very well as a team always friendly and courteous. Early tea, hot water for washing, towels and hot towels before meals were appreciated. Everyone at Sun gate Tours was always very friendly and professional; services were always carried out on time and quality was excellent thank you!!!

What an amazing trip! It was way more than I expected. The sights, food and tour people were amazing. I had always wanted to go to Macchu Pichu and it was so much more than I expected. The Guide displayed an enthusiasm and courtesy that was appreciated by me during the trek. He went out his way to be kind and help us at all times. This tour was fantastic. The archaeological sites and museums in the North Coast area are splendid. The new Sipan museum is outstanding, probably the best in Peru, and one of the best in the New World. Our guide was well informed and spoke excellent English; everything ran smoothly without a hitch, and the food was very very good. I plan to return when I can.

Choquequirao is an exceptional look at how intricate the Inca Culture once existed ... without hordes of tourist, buses and cafés. The ruins are remote and the trails challenging, but an absolute life changing experience. Great food and unexpected subtleties in service were a great surprise. Authentic Peruvian hospitality was extremely enjoyable and integral to the whole experience. I loved the camaraderie between the cooks, horseman and chef and appreciated their honest hard work. Hi David, Thanks very much for the jpeg map and for a wonderful week. The food was superb, the varying landscape and altitudes very beautiful and interesting. Climbing up and down through the various zones allows you to really appreciate the importance of this to people lives. We were grateful for the extra horse and for the effort made to allow us to make this trek. I unfortunately got a bad cold and my son was not quite up for this route, so making it possible for us both to ride part way on days 4 and 5 made a great trip. Choquequirao is a wonderful site and it is a privilege to see it in its isolation as we did. The tent was comfortable and we slept quite well. The hostel in S. Theresa was fine; the room in Aquas Calientes was just wonderful [and lots of hot water]. And arriving after a good rest on the first bus up to Machu Picchu was perfect - we had the site relatively free of crowds for several good hours. David, this was a wonderful week, and I hope we can return to Peru soon again. And we will certainly call upon you. Thanks again, and all the best.

We used Sun Gate Tours to organize our Ausangate Trek. They provided a well trained tour guide, Freddie Zapata, excellent chef and all the necessary resources to successfully accomplish our goal of climbing 5200 meters. The trek was absolutely beautiful as we hiked up mountains and around various different colored lakes.
