![]() Day 01 - Cusco to Aguas CalientesPick from the Hotel; hike Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 2 Days, transfer (train departure at 07:43 Backpacker and 06:53 Vistadome) to the nearby train station to Poroy, the train ride to Machu Picchu is one of the most beautiful journeys that visitors can experience. The train will take us to km 104 (starting point of the trek), we start visiting the Chachabamba archaeological site (2150m/7052ft), hike upon an 8 km ascending trail, which after 4 hours takes us to the archaeological site of Wiñay wayna (2650m/8692ft). This is an impressive site made up of an agricultural center with numerous terraces, a religious sector and an urban sector, and then we go on and climb to the Sun Gate. This will take an hour of hiking along a trail of flat stones on the edges of cliffs in highland jungle. From this fabulous spot, we may contemplate the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu. Then we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, dinner in a nice restaurant, overnight in Aguas Calientes. Meals included: L (box-lunch), Dinner

Day 02 - Machu Picchu / Back to CuscoBreakfast at your hotel; full day Excursion to Machu Picchu, early transfer to the Bus Stop for the short ride (25 minutes) up to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, you will participate in a guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial (the most important preserved Intihuatana), the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, houses, warehouses, a large central square; and all connected by narrow roads and steps that are surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side. After the tour you'll have time to stroll around the Archaeological Site at your leisure. Opportunity to walk (approx 1 hour) up to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) or climb to the top of Wayna Picchu, with a magnificent view of the whole Sanctuary, return in the afternoon by train to Cusco and transfer to your hotel Meals Included: Breakfast |
