Tambopata National Reserve in Peru - Candamo

Situated on the banks of the Tambopata River in the heart of the TAMBOPATA RESERVE the remoteness and tranquillity of our lodge makes for a richly rewarding visit to the rainforest. The TAMBOPATA RESERVE is an immense protected area in the South Eastern state of Madre de Dios, Perú. Extensive surveys of the flora and fauna have been carried out up and down the Tambopata River valley revealing an incredible abundance of life forms. In fact the South Eastern rain forest of Perú are believed to be the most diverse ecosystem on the planet. Here it is possible to observe groups of rare animals such as the Giant Otter, Collared Peccary, Tapir, Anaconda, Jaguar, Ocelot, Horned Currasow, etc. which still lead an otherwise undisturbed existence. The avifauna of the reserve is particularly rich boasting an incredible 590 species, more species than can be found in the whole of continental USA.

Catamaran Tambopata

CAPIBARA (3 Days / 2 Nights)
The port for your boat trip of appx. 3 hours up the Tambopata River to the lodge. On your trip the vegetation changes from colonized deforested areas to virgin rain forest. On arrival you'll have a welcome drink.

Yellow Macaws

CHUNCHO/MACAW CLAY LICK(4 Days / 3 Nights)
This Collpa is actually the second large clay cliffs lining the Tambopata River in this area. After dinner you will go searching for some animals like a Capybaras, Caimans, Tapirs, and the famous Jaguar by walk along the banks of the Tambopata River.

Macaw Clay Lick

COLORADO/MACAW CLAY LICK (5 Days / 4 Nights)
This clay lick is considered one of the largest in the world. On average several hundred Macaws and smaller parrots visit the clay-lick daily, including Scarlet, Blue and Yellow, Red and Green, Chestnut-fronted and Blue-headed parrots, among others.
