Note:
These prices are subject to changes due to possible Goverment
entrance fees increases occuring before these dates. If
any of the 4 third party costs listed above change to increase
the cost of the trek we will immediately update the trek
price listed on our website. We will email all of our clients
effected by the price increase who will be liable for paying
the increased cost of the Inca Trail trek upon arrival in
Cusco.
Single supplement: No charge. If you are traveling
singly and prefer to share accommodations, we will pair
you with another person of the same gender and there will
be no supplementary charge. Requested Single Tent: If you
prefer to have guaranteed single tent, the surcharge is
$60.
Private Service means:
A private service trek is organized just for you with private
transport and your own personal guide. We don't add other
people to your group. This enables us to provide the best
service possible with personal attention and added comfort.
You can depart on any day of the week that suits you best
including Sundays.
Students: US$ 35.00 4 days (students require a
valid International Student Identity Card - ISIC . Please
beware that Youth Travel Cards are not valid). Youth travel
cards or ISTC cards are not accepted. Failure to present
a valid student card to the entrance control results in
a loss of permit and denied entrance to the trail.
"To ensure that we can purchase your permit we must
receive immediately a scan of your student card. The subject
of the email must read ISIC card for Inca trail (date
and name of person or persons inserted)" If you do
not receive a confirmation that we receive this email
please resend until you do."
We strongly recommend that
you make your trek booking as soon as possible because
permits for certain days has now sold out, then you should
have a look and take one of our best alternative options.
Payment details: We will require a non-refundable
trek deposit of US$200 per person payable Sun Gate Tours
confirming your trek booking. The deposit is to be paid
by Our VISA Payment On-Line, Western Union money transfer
and Bank Transfer, these are our fastest & most secure
form of payments in Peru. Further details of how to send
the deposit are included with our trek booking confirmation
email. The remaining balance is to be paid in our office
at least two days prior to your trek departure date. Payment
can be made in cash US$, local currency (Peruvian Soles).
What is included:
- Collection from your hotel in the morning of trek departure
- Private bus from your hotel to the start of the trail
(Soraypampa)
- Salcantay, Inca Trail & Machu Picchu entrance fees.
- English speaking professional guide (two guides for
groups over
9 persons).
- Igloo tents - 2 persons in each 3-people-capacity tent,
to allow for higher
comfort and a safe keeping of backpacks. Our tents
are 3-season, 2008-
new, highly maintained to ensure an excellent performance
in field.
- Double thickness foam mattress
- Cook and Cooking equipment
- Meals (05B, 05L, 05D) - food includes pancakes, omelets,
soups, fresh
fruit, avocado, pasta, chicken, fish, meat, rice,
all rich in carbohydrates
and suitable for trekking, hot drinks including
coca leaf tea which is
excellent for the altitude.
- Teatime everyday (tea, coffee, biscuits, popcorn)
- Porters (to carry the tents, food, and cooking equipment)
- Dining tent with camp tables and chairs, Kitchen tent
- Accommodation for our porters and cooks
- Others: hot water every morning and evening for washing
purposes /
boiled water to fill in your water bottle
every morning and night, and at
lunch time if requested with enough time ahead.
- First aid kit including emergency oxygen bottle
- Bus from Machu Picchu ruins down to the village of Aguas
Calientes.
- Train ticket (Backpackers service) from Aguas Calientes
to Cusco or
Ollantaytambo.
- Transfer from the train station to your hotel.

Not included is:
- Breakfast on the first morning. Some hotels offer an
early morning
breakfast service. If not, we stop at the town
of Urubamba on the way to
the start on the trek where you’ll have the
opportunity to have breakfast,
- Lunch on the last day: after the guided tour at Machupicchu,
you can
enjoy free time to further visit the ruins and
choose to have lunch either
in Machupicchu or in Aguas Calientes.
- Entrance to the thermal springs in Aguas Calientes US$3
- Sleeping bags (can be hired in our office for US$30
for the 6 day trek).
- Tips for the guide, cook and porters (A good rule of
thump is anywhere
from $5-10 dollars per day).
Optional:
(1) Upgrade Vistadome train to Cusco
instead of Backpackers add $25.
(2) Overnight in Aguas Calientes on 4th
night add $35 with variety or train return and breakfast
included, double basis with private bathroom.
(3) Personal porters can be hired to
help carry your personal items such as clothes, sleeping
bag etc. They can be hired for US$ 140 for all 6 days
and will carry up to a maximum of 18kg (usually 1 porter
between 2 persons is more than sufficient). You can hire
the services of a half a porter to carry up to 9kg for
US$80. However, even with a personal porter, you will
still need to bring a day pack for essential items. Please
note that due to new government regulations the maximum
number of porters that we can use in each group has now
been capped. Approximately 30% of our clients hire the
services of an extra third porter.
Important note: You
must decide if you want to hire the services of a personal
porter in advance when making your trek reservation since
we need to purchase the porter's trekking permit. You
cannot decide to hire an additional porter at a later
date or once you arrive in Cusco.
(4) An extra night in Aguas Calientes
can easily be arranged. We can change the date
of your train ticket to the following day. Hotels costs
and costs associated with returning to Machu Picchu the
following day are additional to trek costs.
(5) Vegetarian Meals.
We can provide vegetarian meals or cater for special diets
with no extra cost. Just let us know at least 2 days prior
to trek departure.
(6) Sleeping bag hire. If you haven't
got a sleeping bag or you don't want the hassle of bringing
one all the way to Peru with you, then we have sleeping
bags in our office for rent. The price is US$30 per person
for the 6 day trek.
Other information:
(1) Luggage storage. When you go on the
trek it is best to leave any luggage that you are not
going to need behind in Cusco. Free and safe Storage for
your belongings while you are on tours in our office.
(2) Time of arrival in Cusco after returning from
the trek. Unless you plan to stay an extra night
in Aguas Calientes, you will return to your hotel in Cusco
for approximately 8:30pm on the 6th day of the trek.
You Should bring:
- A backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period
of the trek
- Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho.
- Strong footwear, waterproof trekking boots recommended
- Warm clothes, including jacket, fleeces. Thermal clothing
is also
recommended, especially for sleeping.
- Sleeping bag (it can be hired at our agency for US$
5.00 / day)
- Mattress: will be provided by the agency but is to be
carried by you
- Flashlight and batteries
- Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more
quickly under cold
conditions)
- Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold
- Sun block
- After-sun cream or hydrating cream for face and body
- Insect repellent – minimum recommended 20% DEET
– no malaria risk
has been reported
- Toilet paper, pack in & pack out
- Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, raw fruits,
muesli, etc.
- Non-disposable canteen (Nalgene type) and water for
the first morning.
Optionally: water sterilizing tablets in case you
pick up water from
streams.
- Small towel
- Swimsuit (if you intend to go to the hot springs in
Aguas Calientes)
- Cash 350.00 soles or US$ 110 extra emergency money person
- Original passport
- Walking sticks or poles (rubber covers required in order
not to damage
the Inca Trail).
