The City of Puno is located at an average altitude of more
than 4,000 m.a.s.l, on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest
navigable lake in the world. According to local legend, this
lake was the birthplace of the Inca civilization. Titicaca
National Reserve, was created in 1978 to preserve 37 thousand
hectares of marsh reeds in the south and north sectors of
Lake Titicaca. The reserve is divided into two sections, Ramis,
in the provinces of Huancané and Ramis; and Puno, in
the province of the same name. The reserve is home to dozens
of native bird species (over 60 species in total between resident
and migratory birds), fish (4 different families) and amphibians
(18 native species).
Itinerary
Day 01: Juliaca - Puno
Assistance on your arrival in Juliaca. On your way
to Puno, visit the famous Chullpas of Sillustani, 12 m/40ft
high stone cylinder burial chambers, used by the Aymaras to
bury their important leader. Lake Umayo, located in front
of the Chullpas, adds further beauty to the place. Here you
also have the opportunity to observe wild guinea pigs, birds
and other local wildlife. Arrival to selected hotel where
you have free time to rest and get acclimatised to the altitude.

or bus the excursion to Sillustani will be on Day 4.
Day 02: Lake Titicaca: Floating Islands of the Uros
and overnight at the Amantani Island.
After breakfast, we take a two-hour motor boat excursion on
the waters of Lake Titicaca to the unique Floating "Islands"
of the Uros. These ancient inhabitants of the lake, known
as the Water Tribe, have built their own "islands"
by periodically adding new layers of a type of reed unique
to the area called "Totora". Their homes and boats
are also made from this material. After having experienced
some of the ancient traditions of the local people, you continue
your motor boat trip to Amantani Island. This island is inhabited
by Quechua-speaking natives still governed by their ancient
traditions, whose main occupations are the production of ceramics
and textiles. The positive energy of this Island is so powerful
that it is known as the "Love Island". Box lunch.
Overnight at the house of a local islander to enjoy the hospitality
of a typical Amantani home.

Day 03: Lake Titicaca: Amantani Island and Taquile
Island - Puno.
After breakfast, you have time to stroll at leisure through
the quaint streets of this colourful island. Late morning,
you take a motor-boat to Taquile Island, also inhabited by
Quechua-speaking natives who have developed efficient and
unique social systems, as well as fine hand weaving techniques,
down through the generations.
Upon arrival at the Town of Taquile we will have a lunch.Then,
we will take a walk through the various hills and archaeological
sites of this 6km long island. In the afternoon, return to
Puno for overnight at selected hotel.

Day 04: Puno - Juliaca
In the morning, transfer to Juliaca airport to take your departure
flight.
