Climbing
to Misti Volcano 2 days
The Misti Volcano 5822-meters-high
volcano looms over Arequipa and is the most popular
local climb. It is technically one of the easiest ascents
of any mountain of this size in the world. Nevertheless
it is hard work and you normally need an ice axe and,
sometimes, crampons. El Misti Volcano is an active volcano
towering over the white city of Arequipa (2380m), the
second largest city in Peru. This area was an important
settlement area since before the Inca.

Climbing
to the Active Ubinas Volcano 2 days
Ubinas is an active stratovolcano
in southwestern Peru. It is Peru's most active volcano.
The upper slopes of the stratovolcano, composed primarily
of Pleistocene andesitic lava flows, steepen to nearly
45 degrees. The steep-walled, 1.4 km wide and 150 m
deep summit caldera contains an ash cone with a 500-m-wide
funnel-shaped vent that is 200 m deep. Debris-avalanche
deposits from the collapse of the SE flank of Ubinas
extend 10 km from the volcano
