The Colca Canyon is the second deepest in the world, after that of Cotahuasi, both located in the Department of Arequipa, and it is situated along the homonymous valley. ![]() Day 01 - Arequipa - Colca ValleyPick up from your Hotel at 07:30; and departure by land on the excursion towards the Colca Valley driving across Pampa Cañahuas at the Aguada Blanca National Reserve, habitat of herds of Vicuñas and stopping at the Mirador de los Andes, the Crater of Chucura, the Mirador de Chivay, a beautiful pre-Columbian terraces still being cultivated by native Collaguas. After 4 hours arrival to the Lodge where you’ll have the lunch, in the afternoon free time to rest, stroll by the lodge or visit Hot Spring Thermal. Meals Included: Lunch and Dinner
Day 02 - Arequipa / San Juan of ChucchoBreakfast at the Lodge; early in the morning departure to the "Condor's Cross" (3287m/10781ft) from where the great Andean bird the Condor, may be spotted flying in circles above still farmed green pre-Hispanic terraces. Enjoy the impressive panorama of the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the World. Then we continue to Cabanaconde village, located in the left rim of the Canyon. Start trekking in the Colca Canyon descending 4 hours to the Colca River (2160m/ 7085ft), the trek continues deep inside the Canyon appreciating the beautiful places. We will cross to the other side of the Canyon and ascend to our family cabins or camping place. In the afternoon arrival to the lodge and short walk to the San Juan de Chuccho village (2300m/7544ft). Spend the night in a Familiar House Meals included: Lunch, Dinner
Day 03 - San Juan of Chuccho / Sangalle (Oasis) / CabanacondeBreakfast; the trek begin long ascent to our next village called Cosñirhua and Malata (2600/8528ft) its church of mixed racial ancestry, sights of the local landscape, very old terraces, snow-capped summits, varieties of flora and fauna. Descend to the Colca River and arriving to the Oasis or Sangalle Valley (2160/7085ft) where we have our lunch relax at the swimming pool. We ascent from the Oasis toward the village of Cabanaconde (3230m/10594ft) where will be arriving after 3 hours. We walk up 1070m; this is the last hard and steep trail of this excursion. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 04 - Cabanaconde / Condor Cross / ArequipaBreakfast at the hotel; drive at 06:30 to the Condor's Cross, a natural observation point from where the magnitude of the Colca Canyon and the spectacular flight of the majestic Condor can be appreciated. On the way back to Chivay, visit to the Mirador of Chinina, where we will find the famous cliffside Tombs and the Hanging Bridge of Sifón that joins the Town of Yanque with Coporaque. To have spectacular views of the Colca Valley, we will drive to the Lookout points of Choquetipo and Artahuilque. After the luch in Chivay back four hours to Arequipa Optional: Visit to the Hot Springs Thermal swimming pools in Chivay (3600m/11808ft) Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch |
